Yep, fake exhausts (
including unnecessary dual exhausts)
might be my biggest pet peeve on cars. Even more than unnecessarily large wheels, which I’ve slowly come to accept.

Aftermarket exhaust, suspect he has one of those single H mufflers instead of a true dual, or that snow would have been blown out of there.

I had this happen with my Audi when I spun out after hitting a deer, I landed in a ditch and stuffed one of my exhaust tips full of icy snow. I had to grab a torch to clear it out. I assumed that since there’s a resonated X-pipe in the system that all of me exhaust was simply going to the other side, never allowing the plugged side to heat up. I drove roughly 80 miles like that.

Parking by feel “oh there’s the snowbank!”

Probably just a Y-pipe dual exhaust... One tip is plugged, so the exhaust chooses the path of least resistance and goes out the other side.
